Shaping the Future: MTN South Sudan Strategy Workshop

The MTN strategy session was a full-day strategic workshop designed to challenge existing business assumptions, explore potential disruptions, and develop actionable strategies for organizational renewal. The session brought together top leadership team from MTN South Sudan, Group Strategy & Transformation (S&T), and mid level and senior managers from MTN South Sudan to align on future-focused thinking and execution priorities.
The workshop focused on adapting the group’s Ambition 2030 into locally executable strategies that will strengthen MTN South Sudan’s market leadership and accelerate digital and financial inclusion.
The session began with welcome remarks from the CEO, setting the tone and clarifying leadership intent. The importance of proactive transformation and strategic foresight was emphasized.

Teams explored how a hypothetical “NewCo” could disrupt MTN South Sudan by, delivering ultra-affordable, flexible products, Leveraging digital-first, low-cost operating models and rapidly scaling financial services tailored to underserved communities
Building on disruption insights, teams defined localized responses such as Tailoring value propositions to affordability and accessibility needs, Accelerating MoMo adoption through ecosystem partnerships, Improving network quality in high-demand and underserved areas, Driving efficiency to sustain competitive pricing.
Teams presented their Horizon Defense outputs, resulting in, Alignment on how Ambition 2030 translates into South Sudan-specific priorities, Clear identification of what must change operationally and strategically, A shared, localized narrative for transformation
The MTN strategy session was a critical step in ensuring that MTN Group’s Ambition 2030 is not only understood but effectively localised for the South Sudan market. Through structured collaboration, cross-functional input, and solution-driven presentations, MTN South Sudan is now better positioned to execute its strategy, strengthen its market leadership, and deliver meaningful impact for its customers and communities.
